Living Life Loving Us was nominated for the Liebster Award 2018! As a new blogger who is just doing something I love, I am beyond excited, honored, and all around tickled to be nominated for this award. I started this blog as a way to express my creativity, share some tips and admittedly mostly to let my dad see what I was up to. It quickly turned from a little hobby in to something I am so passionate about. I want to share all of my mistakes and lessons learned to help others avoid them and live the best life they can live. In my journey I’ve fallen in to this INCREDIBLE group of bloggers. They lift you up, provide any and all information and just generally encourage you to be the best you can possibly be. I don’t know where I see this going, but I do know I’m really enjoying the journey!
I want to thank Rachael at Moms In Scrubs for this nomination! Rachael pours her heart and soul in to her posts and you can tell as you get pulled in to her writing. You should check her out because this momma/nurse/momprenuer has some life lessons we could all learn from. Thank you so much again Rachael. This really is an honor!
What is the Liebster Award?
The Liebster Award is an award given by bloggers to bloggers. It’s a nice way to recognize and support up and coming blogs and grow your audience/connections. It is also a way to share more about you.
Here are the rules of the Liebster Award 2018.
- Post the award on your blog.
- Thank the person who nominated you and post a link to their blog.
- State 10 random facts about yourself.
- Answer their questions about yourself.
- Write your own questions for your nominees.
- Nominate between 5-11 blogs that you feel deserve this award.
- List the rules on your post.
- Notify the bloggers that you have nominated them for the award.
Here we go! 10 random facts about me:
- Even though I went to nursing school I snuck in a minor in creative writing because deep down I always wanted to write children’s books AND do “cool medical stuff”.
- I lived on a boat when I was really young, followed by a trailer, and finally moved up to a bigger and bigger house. Here’s the secret – I was happy no matter where I lived and I think about all of the great memories my family made.
- My mom took me horseback riding in Costa Rica when I was only a few months old. Monkeys threw dung at us. Bad idea mom.
- Right before I’m about to cry I sneeze. Always…
- I seem very outgoing and I do love people, but I’m also very socially awkward. I’ve just learned that’s what makes me me and I go with it.
- I will roll on the floor laughing at any and all “dad” jokes. The cornier the better.
- Get ready for cliché. My husband really is my best friend. He’s who I want to spend time with, he’s my support and he’s pretty much the hunkiest guy you’ll every see.
- I’m very girly, love sundresses and makeup, but also grew up in the country and I’m in charge of the “handy woman” skills at our house. I love building furniture, turning old to new, feel pride when I fix my own plumbing problem, and giggle when I have to catch a lizard because my hubby doesn’t want to touch it.
- My dream is to travel the world with our little girl. I want her to know the simplicity of travel like I did. We didn’t have a lot of money but we had the most amazing adventures, met the nicest of people and just lived life.
- I love my unique weirdness and I love that I have surrounded myself with friends and loved ones who embrace their own unique weirdness. I don’t believe everyone has it all together, but I do believe that if you are truly yourself then you are living your best life!
10 questions I was asked by Rachael:
- Why did you decide to start your blog? I decided to start my blog for a multitude of reasons. I’ve ALWAYS wanted to write children’s books and my hubby encouraged me to get some creativity out. I wanted to have a way to show my parents what we were up to down here. I wanted to express myself. All of those things are still true, but I’ve discovered this passion for budgeting and helping others incorporate it in to their lives. We’ve discovered how to budget without deprivation and now I just want everyone to feel as free as my family does.
- Who inspires you to be better? You already know I’m corny, but my husband. I thought I married a great man. I thought I married someone who could keep up with my daddy, but he’s somehow become even better. He’s evolved in to a better, even more loving version of himself and that encourages me to strive to become the best me I can be!
- What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue? I’m doing it! Time is a bit of an issue with a busy toddler, full time in the ER, continuous projects and traveling, BUT you make it work. And money. If I had more money I would for sure be paying for one of those programs to send out auto pins and maybe even Tweets. Promoting is exhausting! I just want to write and talk to people!!
- What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas. Every year my hubby and I make our family’s Christmas gifts. We have a HUGE extended family and I love finding creative ways to make them something truly special. That and the lights, decorations and warmth. We live in Florida, I can only imagine it’s even more intense when there’s a real chill in the air and you get to cuddle by a fire with some coco. Sipping on an ice tea in the pool Christmas Eve isn’t so bad either though…
- What modern luxury could you not live without? Too many. Way too many. I love to think I could live simplistic, minimalist, but when it comes down to it I just don’t think it’s true. I use my phone constantly for work, play, communication and millions of pictures of the baby. I now need my computer for recipes, directions, writing, just life. Coffee maker. Who could live without coffee? And not just any coffee, but coffee in a pod that is ready in my cup in less than a minute! Television. Ok, maybe could do that. But for the most part I’m a victim of the times. I need my creature comforts!
- What is something that a lot of people are obsessed with that you just don’t relate to? In the same breath as before, even though I need my phone and love having a smart phone, I just don’t get the need to have the newest and latest version of it? Even before we started living a more frugal lifestyle, when I would spend hundreds on clothes, shoes, purses, I could never see why anyone would spend that kind of money on a phone that had like 1 upgrade.
- What is the luckiest thing that has ever happened to you? I thought about this for a long time. I was looking for when I won something how I cheated death, or stumbling upon something really cool, but I missed the biggest and most important thing. Our daughter. Our daughter was not supposed to happen. We’re not one of those couples with “unexplained infertility”. Ours was VERY MUCH explained… But we kept trying, did a few rounds of IVF and nearly gave up. We never got ANY good embryos and even the iffy one they tried failed, never got even close to positive pregnancy test, and had maxed out our finances waaaaayyy beyond what I thought one ever could. Then, on our very last try, with the only little embryo we ever got, my daughter was born. When they did my C-section the docs were all still in awe that we were able to even make that one little embryo. She’s our little miracle and yes, the luckiest thing that has ever happened to me.
- What is something special about the place that you grew up? I actually grew up on a marine/farm. My parents owned the marina and the acreage next to it. My mom loved animals so we raised horses, goats, chickens, pigs, cows, donkeys and whatever else one of us brought home. We first lived on a boat there, moved up to a trailer and finally a house. My parents opened their home to every person that passed through – made for some VERY interesting Christmas parties – and they never let anyone feel like a stranger. It was an odd place to grow up but they’re some of the greatest memories I will ever have.
- What book has impacted you the most? 100% full disclosure friend talk here… I don’t really read. I wish so badly that I did, and if the Harry Potter series could have significant impact on one’s life then that would be my answer because those are the last books I truly sat down and read. Sorry to disappoint, but this girl just doesn’t have time to read these days.
- What is something that you think everyone should do at least once? Everything. I love that my husband has the same “yes” attitude.(Obviously we don’t say yes to LITERALLY everything, but you get what I mean.) It has led us on so many incredible adventures from rooftop access at the CMA’s to traveling with the locals in Italy. Be nice to everyone and try anything!

You are welcome! You deserve it! I really enjoy your blog! Had fun reading your answers. It’s fun to get to know you!
I’m not a big reader either. I think Harry Potter had an impact on me, haha. They were the first books that I couldn’t put down. There are good lessons about never giving up.
Ok anyways, congrats again! I’m glad we can be nurse/blog buddies!
